New Council Commissioner - Stephen Loney

Scouts Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Council, would like to welcome our new Council Commissioner, Stephen Loney to the team.

Stephen will be starting this role July 1st, 2018.
Stephen started his scouting career as a young beaver and moved through the ranks in becoming a valued member of the National Youth Team in the position of Assistant National Youth Commissioner. This demanding role did not stop him from volunteering as a Scouter with multiple groups, one of those being our 1st Mount Pearl Group.

Outside of scouting, Stephen has worked with Student Services with Acadia University as well as with Parks Canada. Stephen is now finishing at Dalhousie's Schulich School of Law and will be working in a local firm, here in St. John's, upon returning to Newfoundland.

Stephen is very passionate about the scouting movement, with a focus on our grass roots, section scouters. His goal is to be on the ground and visit/support as many of you as possible; which in turn, will build a more connected and inclusive council.

His experience will be able to offer a new voice and perspective to the members of our scouting movement in Newfoundland and Labrador. He has experience in working with other councils, not only as a Section Scouter, but nationally in his role of Assistant National Youth Commissioner. This knowledge  offers new ideas and insights that will help us to better meet the needs and goals of our council, and in the long run, will have a positive impact on growth and sustainability.

Please join us in welcoming Stephen to our Council and feel free to reach out and congratulate him on his new position. He can be reached at stephen.loney@scouts.ca
